sitproperly: A Soulseek update...
I finally finished the Classic ISKCON Tapes series. It was a total nightmare, but so so sooo worth it. The biggest problems were the odd names and spellings that they gave to the songs. To make things even more interesting, they wouldn't always list all of the songs that were on the tape. I had to do a LOT of searching in Songs of the Vaisnava Acaryas to figure this stuff out. And sometimes what was supposed to be side "A" was actually on side "B". That happened six or seven times. Sadly, the tape series (done in 1995 and 1996) was shoddily slapped together. It doesn't look that much care or attention went into it at all. The sound quality was horrid and I had to run it through an EQ to make it sound better. Tape hiss was also a huge problem. Thankfully, Cool Edit was available. Check them out, the recordings are wonderful. I have been on a record buying spree lately. Doubled my collection. Most of the records that I have in my possession are up. One, called Vrindavan, is just waiting for me to remove the pops and clicks and give it a good EQ. This is quite possibly my favorite classic ISKCON record. I want to do it justice. I put up three albums, including a Prabhupada album (called Govinda). I think the Prabhupada recordings are available elsewhere (I think it's on the vintage series, CD 16... well, part of it is).
