Reggae and Wine a great combination

It was all about fine wine and great reggae/dancehall music at Cinnamon Hill, Rose Hall Montego Bay last Saturday.

At the inaugural staging of the International Wine Festival it was almost 9:00 pm when the first artistes made their way to centre stage to commence the entertainment package.

First on the line up was reggae/dancehall songstress Alaine. Backed by the Bare Essential Band Alaine with her smooth, sultry voice churned out the lyrics to some of her biggest hits including Rise In Love, Dreaming of You, Deeper, No Ordinary Love and Sacrifice. A musician at heart, Alaine gave a soul-stirring rendition of her the single she dedicate to late Voicemail member Oneil Edwards. Playing the keyboard, the songbird emotionally delivered the words to You Are Me whilst some members of the audience raised their arms in appreciation.

After Alaine, came the beautiful and talented Tessanne Chin who wowed the patrons with her powerful voice and well-rehearsed set.

The singer had the audience's attention as she delivered songs such as Hideaway, Free and Messenger among other singles from her debut album In Between Words. Paying tribute to the late British Singer and songwriter Amy Whinehouse, Tessanne soulfully sang the lyrics to one of Amy's hits Rehab.

After the gentlemen in the audience were thrilled by Alaine and Tessanne Chin it was time for the ladies to be sang to and what better person to do it than Romain Virgo. Much to the delight of the ladies present Romain sang his heart out in songs such as Taking You Home and Love Doctor. Digging into a more cultural set the lovers rock artiste also sang the lyrics to songs like Who Feels it Knows It and Mi Caa Sleep.

Reggae Crooner John Holt was chosen to bring the curtains down on the night's. The veteran musician captivated the hearts and minds of the hundreds present during his almost 30 minute set on stage with songs like The Tide Is High, A Love I can Feel, Man Next Door and I'd Love if You Want Me. It was almost at the ending of Holt's performance that the patrons made their way of the venue that played host to the first staging of the International Reggae Wine Festival.
