6-Year old Syndey Smoot selects a heavenly confection at Cupcake Heaven, 2721 Forest Road on U.S. 19. Sydney visited the store with her mother, exclaiming, "The Black Forest cupcake is for me and the Turtle cupcake is for Daddy." The visit was a second trip to the specialty bakery. By returning their empty cupcake box for a refill; the Smoot family earned reward points that will eventually add-up to free cupcakes. Some of the devine cupcake selections at Cupcake Heaven. Few things in life trigger happier thoughts than images that take us back to childhood. Birthday party balloons with colorful ribbon, dripping ice cream cones on a warm summer day or cute little cupcakes with colorful sprinkles have the power to change moods in a matter of seconds.

Yet cupcakes aren't what they used to be. At least, those made in the kitchen of Cupcake Heaven are more like little indulgent cakes, pieces of art crafted from cake batter in flavors beyond what we remember as children. And the pleasure only begins as you walk through the door.

Denise Cornelius opened Cupcake Heaven in Spring Hill just under two years ago after spending years researching cupcake flavors. It was a dream of hers, initiated from a passion for baking. She recruited friends and family as "taste-testers", requiring specific comments as payment for trying her treats.

At that time, Cornelius was a waitress at Carrabba's Italian Grill where she often indulged co-workers with her samples. Two close friends and co-waitresses, Ann Reber and Diane Falco, were so convinced of the solidity of her passion, they hung up their waitress uniforms and adorned pink shirts and hats to bake cupcakes.
