Skeletool is the most lightweight multitool in the Skeletool's class of full sized multitools, packed with what you need, yet minimalistic and lightweight. I'll give you the Skeletool's specs before giving my appraisal.

As the Skeletool's name suggests perhaps the most valuable feature of the new Skeletool is it weighs only 5 ounces or for those on this side of the pond, or those downunder, the skeletool weighs 141.7 grams. Skeletool has a 420HC stainless steel blade Clip Point combination Straight/Serrated Knife, Needlenose, Regular pliers, Wire Cutters, Hard-wire Cutters, Universal Large bit driver, Bottle Opener, Removable Pocket clip and a unique Carabiner / Bottle Opener. The Skeletool's stainless steel body includes 6061-T6 aluminium handles.

Skeletool oozes exquisite luxury build quality that we've come to expected from Leatherman and this is reflected in the Skeletool by Leatherman's 25-YEAR WARRANTY. This warranty isn't exclusive to Skeletool but features across the whole range of Leatherman multitools.

The Skeletool 7-tools in 1 sounds rather compromised and a multitool should be a versatile tool that's loaded with features. But the blurb from Leatherman is the Skeletool is all about compact size, minimal weight and lightening your load to expand your 'survival skills'. On reflection that is a valid point, my first penknife was the Champion Swiss Army which has almost everything but it's bulky, weighty and many things I never open let alone use. Life is full of compromises and where the Skeletool lacks in features it win in portability.

For many, the Skeletool will become there essential 'every-day-carry'(EDC) item, outdoors, hiking, camping and survival where every gram counts - the streamlined Skeletool is the key. The Skeletool is a fraction smaller than Leatherman's other full-size tools, the Skeletool being about 4/5ths the size and with proportionately slightly smaller knife and pliers. The Skeletool's pliers are very rugged and withstand powerful force.
