Wagoner having a great summer

Speaking of school, Jeff Wagoner took his competition to school so far this season. His stellar Midwest Cross Country rides have resulted in the ATV B Class championship already.

The Hillsboro rider clinched the title with a class win and fifth overall at Barbersville last weekend.

“It just feels great to seal the deal with a win,” Wagoner said.

Crawfordsville’s Nathan Hayes was second, about two minutes behind and sixth overall. Ladoga’s Ray Perry took fourth in the class.

The ride to the title was not an easy one in the two-hour event that he completed eight laps on the course. A broken main bolt on the rear end made for interesting pit stops each lap.

“The bolt was working its way out which caused the rear end to sway side to side and slow me down,” Wagoner said. “I had to stop in the pits four times to line the rear end up and beat the bolt back in.”

Good pit work by Cameron Coon kept Wagoner in the hunt.

With the championship already a surety Wagoner plans to keep his Honda on the trails.

“With 2 races still left I’d like to move up to A class but I’ll have to see if MWXC will let me first.”

Congratulations to Jeff. He will ride next at the MWXC race at Brazil Aug. 21.

Eleven laps of Ramblings:

1. There was a total of 158 riders at Barbersville. Three of those local Bike riders that picked up victories. Kyle Utterback won B class. Beau Lang took B Lites and RyanSacco rode to another win in Youth 65cc. Joe Williams took second in B Senior.

2. Nice drive as usual for Sondi Eden. She took 10th in the Xtreme Sprint Series race at Salem Speedway last Saturday. Jacob Wilson crashed early in the evening and leftearly. He Tweeted “car was fast but wall stood firm” or something like that.

3. Rob Bowers had quite a night at Ben Hur Speedway Saturday with two kart wins and a second. One of those was to extend his Yamaha class point lead. One race left before the 27th The Indiana State Dirt Championships.

Josh Brown earned a 2nd place in the Clone Medium class Saturday night at Columbus, Indiana’s 1/4 mile dirt track.  Josh started 3rd off the pole and was shuffled back to 5th on the start. While passing for the lead on the second full lap of the race, he was bumped out of the groove and fell back to 7th.  Josh was back in 2nd place by lap 5 and ran down the leader that had built up about 50 yards over the pack.  The APPCO powered #46 went for the lead coming off of turn 2 and was blocked never getting another shot in a short race of only 6 laps.  You should come watch Josh Brown race for Team APPCO RACING – it is a great deal of fun.  Josh and Team APPCO will be racing Labor day at the famous Eldora Speed Way.  Call APPCO RACING for details.
